Gator swimming forward!!!
Swamp Tour of the Bayou
We drove about half-hour outdoors of town to do a swamp tour with Jean Lafitte Swamp Excursions.
We boarded our pontoon and noticed this dude hanging out on the opposite aspect. However he was not shifting AT ALL. Not even a twitch. For about 5 minutes we debated if he was even actual for the reason that tour store had a number of gator statues inside. However then he began to float the slightest motion down river and swiftly he broke his trance and was snapping round!!
We noticed numerous alligators alongside the way in which, some small and a few greater! We even noticed a brand new mom with tiny infants that had hatched simply days earlier!

The actual present was in a hidden cove the place this enormous mama lives. This gator was most likely 10 ft lengthy!! Our information fed her marshmallows to lure her out. She chomped away! A number of smaller gators hid within the wings.

Sunsets and Salmon
We headed again to KK’s for a sundown and salmon burgers.
Salmon burgers, pickled okra (KK’s recipe!) and corn on the cob.

Monday Morning
We had a soothing morning after the weekend, with espresso on the deck adopted by a run / stroll for me.

Turkey & The Wolf
We headed into town to have lunch at Turkey & The Wolf. You may need seen Chef Mason Hereford on Iron Chef, and we’ve been all for him as a result of he grew up in Charlottesville! His love for sandwiches stemmed from those we love and eat from Bellair Market!
Meet The Chef
We had been thrilled that Chef Hereford was on web site! We launched ourselves as visiting from Charlottesville. He and Thomas went to the identical highschool, and we’ve got a good friend in frequent! So cool!
Sandwich Sampler
We ordered three of the sandwiches – the Ham, Fried Bologna, and Collard Inexperienced Soften. Plus a cabbage salad. Let me simply say – these LIVED THE HYPE! So so so good!
Mazen’s Ronald McDonald grilled cheese!
The French Quarter
After lunch, we went with Andrew to the French Quarter to attempt to discover a memento for Mazen. IT WAS SO HOT. We had been actually melting. However it was enjoyable to listen to some jazz and take a look at Jackson Sq..
Air Conditioned Playground
We went to choose up Mazen’s cousin from college and took them to a trampoline park aka the air conditioned playground.
Sidebar: Every thing in New Orleans is so unfold aside! I’m not used to a lot driving, particularly on highways. Fortunately the visitors wasn’t too dangerous.
Shrimp Etouffee
Again at KK’s home we relaxed on her porch with some drinks whereas she put the ending touches on dinner: shrimp etouffee! Delish.
Key Lime Pie
After which we ended our go to with key lime pie (right here’s the recipe she used which wasn’t arduous in any respect!)
